Heart DNA is a genetic testing kit used to assess your risk of developing certain heart conditions and your body's responses to particular heart medications. So you can receive an optimal, personalised and effective treatment, and in the same time become more aware of your genetic risk factors and so to help you put proficient preventative measures in your lifestyle.
Order your DNA collection kit through our website and we'll send it to you in the mail (you can also collect it at one of our partner consultants clinics). Use the equipment provided in the kit to deposit a small saliva sample and send it back to us. We will then analyse your sample and search for genetic markers which influence a broad range of heart-related conditions. We will then store and protect your genetic data for you to access your personalised report "genetic profile" and share that with any practitioner you may wish to choose.
Heart DNA is aimed for patients at an increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and for cardiologists and genetic counselling officers/geneticists who would want to to partner with us in delivering this service to the public. But that does not limit our offering to the general public, so anyone looking to determine their genetic profile, are more than welcome to use and benefit from our services.
Heart DNA can detect the presence of unique genetic markers associated with heart-related conditions and assess your response to certain drug treatments. Our gene panel list consists of 96 markers which cover: Atrial Fibrillation, Coronary Artery Disease, Myocardial Infarction, Type III Hyperlipoproteinemia, Cholesterol level and risks for hypertension and Venous Thrombosis. Drug treatments include 8 classes of drugs that affect the cardiovascular system; anti-platelets, anticoagulants, statins, stimulants, beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, calcium channel blockers and hormone therapies.
From this, your health practitioner may wish to alter your treatment and you may look to changing couple of bad habits in your lifestyle appropriately and in accordance to your genetics and by that reduce your risk of developing any cardiovascular disease.

Our gene panel list is assayed through a genotyping technology that utilises competitive allele-specific PCR, which enables highly accurate bi-allelic scoring of SNPs (>99.8% accurate) and InDels (Insertions and Deletions) at specific loci across a wide range of genomic DNA samples (industry leading SNP & InDel assay conversion rate >90%).

Your saliva sample is needed to extract your unique DNA. And so we can look for the genetic markers that's are associated with your cardiac health.
In essence, you need to make sure not to eat, drink, smoke or chew for at least 30 mins before providing your sample, once that has been achieved you can start depositing your saliva inside the provided collection tube until your sample reaches the "fill to" marker line on the tube. Then, put the barcode label on your sample tube, insert the tube inside the plastic bag provided, enclose that inside the box, seal the box and put it inside a mail box. That's it!
More detailed instructions can be found on the instructions manual inside your kit.
